Opothleyahola, known as the “Abraham Lincoln of the Upper Creek Muskogee,” declared his loyalty to the Union during the Civil War.  Learn how this loyalty turned to tragedy for Opothleyahola and his followers. Woodson County Commissioner Gwendolyn Martin, Hollie Yoho of the Woodson County Chamber of Commerce, and Emma Crites of the Fredonia Historical Society share the story of their tragic journey to Kansas.
