May 9 - June 22, 2008


Saturday Evening May 10th, 7:00 PM - Diamond W Wranglers Cowboy History and Song. Chuckwagon dinner available for purchase at 6:00 PM. Don Rowlison, Curator of Cottonwood Ranch State Historic Site near Studley, enhances the show with a look at the life of a trail drover in "Out of the Bedroll" during intermission.

Sunday, May 11th, 2:00 PM - Opening reception for New Harmonies featuring Jerry Weaver, Native American-style drum maker and Reuben Ironhorse Kent, Native American flute maker.

Friday, May 16th, 7:00 PM - Volga German musicians Garry Batt and Johnny Shwien, formerly with Dutchmasters, play and discuss their music.

Sunday, May 18th, 2:00 PM - This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land presented by Tom Lewis. An Oklahoma songwriter, hobo, and philosopher, Woody Guthrie became a folk hero. This Land is Your Land, So Long It's Been Good to Know You, and many other songs struck a chord with the dispossessed and downtrodden in the 1940s. Discover Guthrie's wit, wisdom, and sometimes radical views during this program. Followed by a jam session of Guthrie's songs in the Stone Barn at Soapweed Farm.

Sunday, June 8th. 2:00 PM - Riverbend Five Dixieland Band in Cecil Brinker Park. Russell County Historical Society (partner for New Harmonies).

All Summer Long - Russell County's Roots...musicians of note exhibition at the Russell County Historical Society.
