Kansas State University Receives Grant

TOPEKA – The Kansas Humanities Council awarded $500 to Kansas
State University’s Department of English in support of a four-day
conference on regional literature.
Region, Nations, Frontiers is an event exploring regional
American literature, history, and art. The event begins July 28
and runs through July 31 and features a program by Lawrence Rodgers,
Kansas State University, on regional American literature; a viewing
and discussion of the film, CSA (Confederate States of America)
by University of Kansas film professor Kevin Wilmott; a lecture
on the Underground Railroad in Kansas by Kansas State University
professor Elizabeth Dodd; a tour of local Underground Railroad sites
by resident Richard Pitts; a display of regional American art; a
reading of works by local poets; and a guided tour and hike on the
Konza Prairie.
