Topeka Shawnee County Public Library Receives
Grant for Book Series

The Kansas Humanities Council awarded $1,176 to the Topeka Shawnee
County Public Library in support of “Life As We Have Known
It: Reading & Writing Meaningful Memoirs.”
“Life As We Know It” is a five-part book discussion
program examining life challenges experienced by 20th century U.S.
and English authors. The series begins on February 15, and will
hold programs on March 8, March 29, April 19, and May 10.
Participants will read Personal History by Katharine
Graham, Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes,
North Toward Home by Willie Morris, Notes from a Small
Island by Bill Bryson, and Surprised by Joy by
C. S. Lewis. Dr. Sara Tucker from Washburn University will lead
all five discussions.
